In Hawaii, when you are a surfer and/or waterman that has left his mark on so many peoples lives, that has made himself an asset to his friends and family...then you are honored with a traditional memorial service when you finally pass on. As all life was once created from tiny organisms in water, so we shall return our ashes to the water...so that we may be reborn and fulfill an even greater destiny.

All questions, comments and favorites are welcome and appreciated.

Now that is really a great photo!! The place looks awesome, the sky is amazing, the colors are great and the scene with all the surfers just perfect! My only critique is that the photo is not horizontal (the horizon) and that is quite distracting, even with the people being good horizontally due to the angle... still, :thumbsup: :)

I know what u mean about the angle...but life is not always perfect & I certainly was not a perfect photographer back when I took this photo long ago. The angle bothered me to for many years, which is why I finally changed the sky to help complement the rest of the photo, now it doesn't seem to bother me, but rather gives me great pride to be able to share this moment so artistically.

It was for Tommy Tanaka's father Ernie Tanaka, he was a well known shaper. Wow, trippy, i just got chicken skin writing this reply.
